Take Refuge, SING for Joy!

Mountains-Cross-282107_305x170Where do you feel comfortable and protected?

I remember feeling that way in the arms of my dad when I was young. It was in his arms that I felt like nothing could touch me and no one could harm me. I felt relaxed, favored and enjoyed being with him…a refuge.

Some of you find refuge at home, some at work, with friends and others at church.

Last night my wife and I went to a Chris Tomlin “concert” at the Gibson Amphitheater. I tell you that it wasn’t a concert at all, but rather a 3 hour worship service with God’s Word proclaimed by Louie Giglio, and I felt like I was in a refuge…in a place among friends…in a safe place…protected. More than 6,000 people lifting their hands and their voices to God in praise and worship, and it was truly amazing!

The whole experience reminded me of Psalm 133 – “Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity! It is like the precious oil on the head, running down on the beard, on the beard of Aaron, running down on the collar of his robes! It is like the dew of Hermon, which falls on the mountains of Zion! For there the Lord has commanded the blessing, life forevermore.”

And I felt like the Lord’s anointing was on this place and for this moment and for His people…it was a refuge, but only for a night. The TRUE Refuge is in our Lord and it’s with Him that I encourage you to rejoice and sing! Regardless of where you are in life and what circumstances surround you, rest assured that God loves you and have JOY in the arms of Jesus Christ and SING!

“But let all who take refuge in You rejoice; let them ever sing for joy, and spread Your protection over them, that those who love Your name may exult You. For You bless the righteous, O Lord; You cover him with favor as with a shield.” – Psalm 5:11-12
