Collagen is required for the bonding, elasticity and repair of our connective tissues, including the skin, tendons, ligaments, cartilage and bones.

In terms of beauty, collagen gives skin its framework. It is vital for firm and plump skin and helps to minimise wrinkles and fine lines. Collagen consists of specific amino acids and peptides and is the strong glue that holds everything together. There are several types of Collagen with type I being the main form, which also has the most strength, being able to be stretched without being broken.

What is the best age to take a Collagen supplement?

We start to lose collagen from the age of 30, which can cause wrinkles to appear. So, it is best to supplement from your late twenties onwards.

Is there a difference between Bovine and Marine Collagen?

Both are similar in terms of their amino acid profile however bovine collagen is harder to digest and utilise in your body. Marine, therefore, has better bioavailability, works more effectively and is better value for money.
