Open Brain Coral, Orange & Green

The Orange &; Green Open Brain Coral is a gorgeous bicolor variety of the large polyp stony (LPS) coral often referred to as a Lobed, Colored, Carpet, Flat, or Open Brain Coral, Meat Coral, Modern Coral, or Large Flower Coral. Soothing shades of orange and green coloration beautifully highlights the curvy, architectural shape of this LPS coral adding lovely visual interest sure to complement any reef aquarium landscape. The Orange &; Green Open Brain Coral has large fleshy polyps that hide its calcareous skeleton. Lobophyllia Brain Corals are found in a variety of textures and color forms. Some are smooth, while others are pimply, and look like carpet. Colors vary from bright red, green, orange, gray, tan, or brown.

Caring for the Orange &; Green Open Brain Coral is relatively easy, making it an excellent choice for the beginner to expert hobbyist. The Orange &; Green Open Brain Coral requires moderate to high lighting achieved by T-5s, powerful LEDs or the more intense metal halides combined with moderate water movement within the aquarium. For continued good health, the Orange &; Green Open Brain Coral will benefit from the addition of calcium, strontium, iodine, magnesium and trace elements to the water column.

The Orange &; Green Open Brain Coral is semi-aggressive, extending its sweeper tentacles at night well beyond the base, potentially stinging other species of corals and animals within reach. The photosynthetic symbiotic zooxanthellae algae hosted within the Orange &; Green Open Brain Coral satisfies the majority of its nutritional requirements. However, the Orange &; Green Open Brain Coral will benefit from supplemental feedings in the form of micro-plankton or baby brine fed twice per week in the evening while its tentacles are visible.
